Industrial silence # 1

" In silence" - Industrial silence.

The images here started off as an attempt to illustrate the bewilderment I sometimes feel living in the modern world with all its demands. The silence I found in this abandoned factory was quite overwhelming, strangely enough. The silence was an almost physical presence that I try to capture here.

I had some of them on show in an exhibition in the summer of 2016 made by me and my fellow war veteran artists in the gallery 3,14 in Bergen. The show was called "Camouflage". In this context they took up a whole different meaning as a description of the detachment so many of the veterans feel ( and I certainly felt) when returning to civilian life after having served in conflicts around the world. It was a new thing for me to work in cooperation with other artists with the same background and an experience I really liked.
